State manual overrides of federal data entry - DBAs

Describe your idea. The more information you provide, the clearer picture of your idea we will have.

Add capability to override/add/change DBA list reported on page 1 of the OR-20 rather than having it automatically pull in from the federal data entry with no option to override.

How will this idea help you and potentially others? Understanding how things are done today, where the pain is, and how the idea is beneficial puts us in your shoes.

The OR-20 limits the DBA characters to 75; I have run into clients who have dba lists/names longer than the OR limitation and so we are forced to either paper file the OR return or remove/limit dbas on the federal return to adhere to the OR requirements or go back and make changes to the federal dba data entry after the federal return is filed (prior to filing OR) in order to eliminate the e-file errors on the OR return due to the dba character restriction (all of which waste time and/or create a less than professional final product). We'd prefer to keep the federal data entry complete and manually change the OR dba list to meet the character requirement limits for the state (for example, shorten the list reported in the blank on the OR-20 and add a statement/attachment with the additional names).

Who will benefit from this idea? Whether it's specific roles of users, users of a specific product, or certain departments/markets, this helps us know who to talk to when we need more information.

OR-20 filers who serve clients with multiple/long dbas.

How do you envision this idea being implemented at K1x? You're the expert and understanding how you see this working helps kickstart the idea.

Would be appreciated if this type of manual override was available for all states anytime/anywhere that federal info flows into the state return; this is one specific example of where it has been an issue.
