Keep Investment Name Already Entered in K1x

Describe your idea. The more information you provide, the clearer picture of your idea we will have.

It is necessary for the K1 Reader to avoid changing the investment name entered in K1x already when it imports the next year's K-1 PDF. When a K-1 is matched by EIN to an investment already created in K1x, then it should not override the name field.

How will this idea help you and potentially others? Understanding how things are done today, where the pain is, and how the idea is beneficial puts us in your shoes.

I have over 500 K-1 issuing investments and when K1x imports the K-1's, it overrides the name I have in the tool which is problematic because the names are long and the K1x reader is only pulling line 1 which looks the same for all K-1's. Right now, I'd have to go in and edit each K-1 one by one. That removes the efficiencies I was hoping to gain by using this tool. K1x is putting the second name line in the address. This is problematic upon exporting reports and reviewing to our other internal lists. The names need to be complete.

Who will benefit from this idea? Whether it's specific roles of users, users of a specific product, or certain departments/markets, this helps us know who to talk to when we need more information.

All users will benefit by having their investment name field encompass the entire name, so when they take the time to enter the long name in the field, the import should not override it. We export the list and when the name isn't complete, it is hard to identify which investment it is.

How do you envision this idea being implemented at K1x? You're the expert and understanding how you see this working helps kickstart the idea.

The import should only populate the name field when it is empty and ignore it when it is populated with data.

Strongly agree. There should be an option that when scanning a new K-1, matching should only look to EIN. Uner this option, if the scanned K-1 matches the EIN, but not the name, of an existing investment, it should map the K-1 data to this investment but keep the existing name.
