Describe your idea. The more information you provide, the clearer picture of your idea we will have. |
An organization included in consolidated, independent audited financial statements for the tax year answers "yes" to Form 990, Part IV, Line 12b. If Form 990, Part IV, Line 12b is answered "Yes," and if the organization answered "No" to Form 990, Part IV, Line 12a, then completing Schedule D, Parts XI and XII is optional. Currently, the software is generating Schedule D for a "Yes" response to Form 990, Part IV, Line 12b. Because completing Schedule D, Parts XI and XII is optional, the software should have a way to choose for Schedule D to not be included with the return. |
How will this idea help you and potentially others? Understanding how things are done today, where the pain is, and how the idea is beneficial puts us in your shoes. |
This will prevent an unnecessary schedule from being included in the final PDF of the return when the organization chooses not to complete Schedule D, Parts XI and XII. |
Who will benefit from this idea? Whether it's specific roles of users, users of a specific product, or certain departments/markets, this helps us know who to talk to when we need more information. |
Clients will benefit by having a final return that matches what is filed from the IRS. Preparers will benefit from this idea as manual updates to remove Schedule D from the final return will not need to be done in order for the final PDF to match what is e-filed with the IRS. |
How do you envision this idea being implemented at K1x? You're the expert and understanding how you see this working helps kickstart the idea. |
Currently, there is a box to check when the organization would like to optionally complete Schedule D, Parts XI and XII. There should be another checkbox to mark when Schedule D should not be generated in the PDF solely because of a "Yes" response to Form 990, Part IV, Line 12b. |
I completely agree with this. I have a least 12 May 15 returns where this applies, and the return unnecessarily prints Schedule D and I cannot remove it.
